The story

The machine and the engine: in short an ideal synthesis to describe Mr and Mrs Luinetti. Vincenzo was still a technician in one of the most important firms for the production of pasta-making machines, when, in 1959, he put together his machine. Milena Brambilla a child counsellor in Milan, where she lived at that time, added to that machine her energy, her strength and her culinary skills. First to open and then transform what was then a small corner shop into a prestigious business.
That corner shop, which was not simply lasagne and ravioli but real gastronomy ahead of its time, opened on the 3rd March 1959 in Via Cavour close to the corner with Via Polidoro Caldara. It was obviously too small for a business that immediately took off: in 1960 they moved to Via Matteotti and other shops opened in Inzago and Verdello.
In 1964 a workshop was opened beneath their home, by 1970 this had doubled in size and had been transferred to a building opposite. It was the time of expansion, of ‘door-to-door’ and ‘shop-to-shop’ deliveries using small vans, of the first exports, mainly to England, and it was also the time of the first recognition.
In 1975 the ‘Raviolificio Mylena’ was awarded the international prize the “Golden Jumbo Jet” with the following motivation: “For the refined taste, the high quality and the reliability of a genuine product which offers to the world a delicious Italian message.” In that same year, the ravioli factory received another international prize, the “Golden Hercules 1975” awarded to the Luinetti couple in Brussels during a ceremony attended by numerous Italian and Belgian authorities.
In 1979 the business moved to its actual location in the industrial area where Mr and Mrs Luinetti continued the work, together with their three sons, Renato, Paolo and Germano and 20 more employees. Today 85% of its production is exported. Even if the production is on an industrial scale, the business still manages to maintain its notorious high quality craftsmanship, a continuity that is the basis of the secret of the success reached so far.
